Mediation
So many family issues can be resolved with the help of a trained neutral, including property settlements, child and spousal support, parenting plans, payment of medical and extracurricular expenses, and choices for children’s school and activities. Mediation assists spouses and parents in voicing their own concerns and hearing the other person’s concerns. Mediation spares the parties lengthy, exhausting, and expensive forays into the court process. Most importantly, mediation allows parties to control their own outcomes and forge their own paths forward.
Arbitration
When family law issues cannot be resolved, the parties can submit to private arbitration. In arbitration, the parties agree to hire, in effect, a private judge to hear and decide their dispute. Arbitration can be binding or nonbinding. Anne’s lengthy experience and excellent record of writing clear, equitable decisions means parties know that their hearing officer has expertise and experience in deciding family law matters. In private arbitration, parties can better protect their privacy and have far greater control over the expediency of the process.
Litigation Consultation
Parties who have been working toward settlement but have not filed in court can come to Anne for an out-of-court Early Neutral Evaluation, or ENE. In ENE, each side explains their concerns, their desired outcomes, and what they will present in court. Anne will evaluate their respective positions and, based on her experience in practice and on the bench, explain to the parties the possible outcomes if the case proceeds to Court.
Also, attorneys who are preparing for litigation can review with Anne their planned strategy for litigation to ensure they are putting on their strongest possible case.
